Reaching C2 Fluency in German: My 4-Month Plan To Pass The Most Difficult Goethe Exam
After living in Germany for 8+ years, it’s time
Last year, I tried passing the Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (GDS).
I passed only one out of 4 modules.
In short: I flat-out failed.
This is unacceptable. Someone who lives abroad permanently and by choice should master the language of their host country.
- Out of respect
- To ease the assimilation process
- And to improve access to jobs and opportunities.
This is my 8th year in Germany — and counting. I’m out of excuses for why I’m still not fluent.
I’m not risking another month’s rent on wasted exam fees. This time, we’re taking the structured approach.
Here’s my 4-month plan to pass the most difficult German exam.
